The teaching program is focused on developing excellence as a primary care provider. The curriculum provides the resident with the skills and knowledge necessary for community based practice and/or subspecialty fellowship training. This foundation allows our graduates to be extremely competitive in the job market and to rapidly advance to leadership positions in community and/or hospital based practice. Most teaching is provided in small groups, supplemented by case-oriented discussions, didactic lectures and individual reading. We encourage resident participation in our basic and clinical research projects.

The Med+Peds residents are an essential and integral part of both the Pediatrics and Medicine Departments at LAC+USC Medical Center.

We feel we offer the resident sufficient flexibility and time in the clinical service schedule to focus on academic as well as personal needs. We are very sensitive to the virtues of free time and special time with family and friends. Faculty members are always available to the resident to discuss any personal or educational issues.
