Clinic and Ambulatory Training
Continuity Clinic
The resident is assigned to continuity clinic one-half day per week.
1st and 2nd Year
Residents alternate between General Medicine and Pediatric continuity clinics every other week.
3rd and 4th Year
Residents transition to the combined Med+Peds Clinic where they see all ages in the same clinic and participate in an integrated Med-Ped Curriculum. The Med-Peds clinic not only allows us to see families (parents, children, grandparents, etc...) it also allows us to see many of the patients transitioning from pediatric subspecialty care to adult subspecialty care. For this reason we see a significant number of very interesting conditions and help to maintain their continuity of care as they transition their care from pediatric to adult neurology, gastroenterology, hematology, endocrinology, cardiology, etc...
Ambulatory Training
The resident is assigned to an ambulatory outpatient rotation once a year through both Medicine and Pediatrics.
1st and 2nd Year
Residents do separate Medicine and Pediatric outpatient rotations.
3rd and 4th Year
Residents transition to the combined Med+Peds Rotation where they visit pediatric subspecialty and adult subspecialty clinics within the same week to learn valuable lessons from the comparison and contrast of pediatric to adult neurology, gastroenterology, hematology, endocrinology, cardiology, etc...
The residents also go to Med+Peds relevant/interesting clinics such as Adult Congenital Heart Clinic, Adult Cystic Fibrosis Clinic, and Med+Peds Continuity Clinic.
This is the same rotation we offer as an elective to Medical Students.
