Hometown: San Clemente, CA
Med School: USC
Hobbies: Surfing, vegetarian cooking, exercise classes, yoga, spending time with friends and family.
Why LAC+USC: More than once in medical school I met a patient who had been told by an outside hospital that they likely had cancer, but since they didn’t have insurance they couldn’t be worked up or treated there. I realized that I always wanted to work at the hospital where patients knew they could come regardless of insurance, citizenship or socioeconomic status. To be able to look at those patients and tell them that we will take care of them is a very rare opportunity for physicians and it’s the reason I wanted to stay at LAC+USC.
Plans after residency: Always changing! But currently infectious disease and global health.
Fun fact: I have surfed in six countries!

Why LAC+USC: I loved that the program and the hospital’s focus was universally on serving the underserved and I felt it aligned with my interests right away. LAC+USC Medicine-Pediatrics is the ideal combination of camaraderie and support that comes with co-residents who are invested in the communities they serve.
